What is the secret to a happy life?
Happiness and suffering are both merely states of mind. Therefore to truly be free from suffering and enjoy happiness in every moment, it is imperative that we possess a thorough and profound understanding of the mind and how to maintain control over it.
No matter how much we search, the real causes of happiness cannot be found outside our own mind. If we understand the qualities of mind that are conducive to real peace and happiness, then by improving our mind with meditation and cultivating these qualities we can experience more and more happiness and peace and become a source of happiness for everyone we know and care for. This is the best, most reliable way by which we can greatly improve our quality of life both now and in the future.

Kelsang Phuntsog has been ordained as a Buddhist monk for over 10 years and has been teaching meditation in Durban and Johannesburg over the last decade.
